Annotated Collection of Modern Chinese Writings on the 'Painful History of Choson' (Volume 1)

In 1910, Ye Wan-yong signed the Japan–Korea Annexation Treaty with the Empire of Japan. From then on, the Korean Peninsula fell into Japanese colonial rule, and the Korean Empire officially perished!

This book primarily collects writings related to the "History of the Fall of Choson" published or featured in Chinese during the late Qing and Republican periods. It includes serious historical monographs as well as literary works such as novels, poems, and plays based on the theme of Korea's national ruin, along with contemporary commentaries and speeches. These texts come in diverse genres and serve as important historical materials for studying modern Sino-Korean relations, East Asian history, and intellectual and cultural history.

In the process of organizing these Chinese writings on the history of Korea's fall, the compilers conducted meticulous textual research on the authors, publication, and circulation. Based on this, they provided specialized introductory explanations regarding the writing motivations and contents of each piece.

The work is divided into five volumes, with the contents of each volume as follows:
