This volume, "The Will to Power: An Attempted Transvaluation of All Values, Books III and IV," is a posthumous compilation of Friedrich Nietzsche's unpublished notebook fragments. Assembled in the early 1900s by his sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche and his friend Peter Gast, the work was presented as Nietzsche's intended magnum opus. However, subsequent philological research has revealed that Nietzsche had abandoned plans for such a book prior to his mental collapse. The fragments were selected, reorganized, and in some instances altered, leading to this controversial compilation being regarded more as a "historic forgery" than a definitive statement of Nietzsche's final philosophical intentions.
