Daxi: Our Museum

This book introduces the birth, mission, spatial blueprint, and the "museum without walls" concept of the Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum in Taoyuan. The content traces a century of Daxi wood art through the river transport of the Dahan River, the Lin Ben-yuan family, and Tangshan master craftsmen, explaining how skills in furniture making, altar tables, flower chiseling, and wood carving have continued and innovated amidst industrial changes. It guides readers through the Butokuden, No. 1 Mansion, the Daxi Police Station Dormitory Cluster, and the "corner museums" co-operated by residents. The latter half uses Heping Old Street, Zhongshan Road, and Zhongyang Road as settings to connect long-established shops, local cuisine, traditional industries, and diverse beliefs, presenting the Daxi culture formed by the natural environment, wood art artisans, historical buildings, and community life. The entire book is presented in a bilingual Chinese-English format, serving as both a record of the museum's founding philosophy and a guidebook for understanding local culture and regional revitalization in Daxi.
